This palette is shaped like a stretched-out cat, complete with tiny paw-print textures and a little tail that works as an extra mixing well. I hand-built it from white clay, carved each well individually, and glazed the inside of all seven wells so they’re smooth and easy to clean. The surrounding surface is intentionally left unglazed so artists can let the palette develop its own patina over time — I love when tools tell the story of the work made with them. The full piece measures about 6.7”×4” (17×10 cm), with each well roughly 1.2”×1.2” (3×3 cm), making it a practical, compact cat-shaped palette for watercolor, gouache or ink.
