Cute Ceramic Kitties: Ring Holders

Cute Ceramic Kitties: Ring Holders

One of the dishes I love making are these cute ring holders! You can give this kitty belly rubs without being love bitten! These little cat dishes lying on their back with happily stretched out paws, a cute face and my favourite tiny heart are happy to hug anything you give them!

Making these cuties is a whole multistep process even though they look so simple! To be the real thing that is not afraid of water and can easily live in your bathroom or kitchen they have to go though two firings just to make sure that they will survive pretty much any regular use conditions. I so much love when our household items have a story to tell that I never glaze them underneath. They will change their colour there a bit and will tell a story of their life at your home!

So, how are these little guys made? With lots of love, fun and whimsy in mind.

1. I start with shaping mud (sorry, raw clay) to turn it into a lazy kitty waiting for their belly rubs.

2. I wish I had a kiln at home, but I have to take them to a local pottery studio for their first firing after they have dried and I have underglaze them.

3. Then the kitties travel back to my place for final glazing and go back to the kiln for a much higher temperature to turn them into the real thing - tiny ring kitty dishes.

These kitties are ready to go wherever you need them. Some have travelled to Spain, Finland, the UK, Australia, around Canada and the States to find their forever home! What could be a better gift for a cat and a jewellery lover than a cute but lazy kitty ring holder that doesn't take up much of a counter space?! In fact, you can use them for anything you want - turn them into a paint holder, a knife rest, a pill holder or your regular ring dish. You can buy them for yourself or for someone special in your life. They make great birthday, anniversary, engagement, Christmas or just because gifts.

If you need a cute ring dish like this, you know where to find it :)
