My brother and I used to have a very special ritual as we were younger - we would brew some tea, light a candle and have a talk about how our days passed. I loved that so much because it drew us closer. Candles create this special a little bit mystical atmosphere that creates an escape from reality. The idea of cat candles was born from this - I really wanted to give people their own ritual while having a candle in a cat shaped container that would be very special and unique.
These candles are special in every way - I design and make containers at home. They take me a long time but that is so worth it! But it is candles that light that spark of life and special warmth in them! These candles are special in every way because they are hand poured by Light a Dream.
So, let me tell you about Light a Dream a bit. It is. non-for-profit organization that helps young adults with intellectual disabilities by providing them with vocational training and opportunities. These students and alumni are the ones that pour these candles. To support them in many possible ways, apart from obvious paying them for their amazing services, I also donate 10% of each sale to them. I hope they manage to stay open forever! I am so happy that I found them and we keep working together creating new candles and spreading the warmth in so many ways.
By the way, they also have an amazing gift shop full of exciting candles near Montreal in Pointe-Claire. Going there feels like an holiday every time - everything is beautifully arranged and so happy and nice. So, if you live near the area, I cannot recommend them enough!
